Limiting Stresses in Concrete

The limiting stresses at release are calculated according to LRFD Art. 5.9.4.1. For limiting stresses after all losses, there are three stages at which the stresses should be checked (as specified in Art. 5.9.4.2). These stages are:
  • Final 1: (due to permanent and transient/live load)
  • Final 2: (due to permanent loads only)
  • Final 3: (due to transient/live loads plus one-half of permanent loads)
Precast/Prestressed Girder only checks and marks with asterisks (*) the stresses exceeding the limiting compressive stresses under Service I limit state and tension stresses under Service III limit state. For simple spans, only the stresses under the positive moment envelope are checked, and for multi-spans, stresses under positive and negative moment envelopes are checked. Note that Precast/Prestressed Girder will also mark the stresses exceeding the limiting compressive or tension stresses at release.
